Mrs. Sarah Ledyard Turner, age 86, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Turner; sons, Allen Turner (Cathy) and Eric (Miriam); grandchildren, Gabriel Turner, Jesse Turner, Leita Turner and Elise Turner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty seven years, Edgar A. Turner; her parents George P. and Leta Ledyard; her brothers, George Preston and Berkley Ledyard and her sister, Elizabeth Allen. She grew up in the Acipco area of Birmingham and later lived in the East Lake and Roebuck area. She retired as Vice President of Jemison Realty after many years of service. She had a deep love for her family and friends and most of her activities centered around providing for their needs and doing things to make them happy. She was an extremely hard-working, strong-willed individual who had a quick wit and an extreme love of sweets. You could not leave her house without being encouraged to "take a cold drink and a cookie" for the road. She adored her grandchildren and never hesitated to tell the world about their latest accomplishments. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 12, at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville with a chapel service to follow at 2:00 pm. The family would like to express deepest thanks to Kathy Leverett, Mrs. Turner's sitter; Margie Thomas, home health nurse at Alacare; Angelina Young and Alecia Hawkins, hospice nurses at Alacare.
