Sarah Ann "Nana" Loden, age 85, of Birmingham passed away on May 13, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felton and Pauline McCollough; sisters, Virginia Pauline Thomas, Jimmie Nell York and Peggy Joyce Hanson; a son, Charles Edwin Nichols. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Willard Ray Loden; daughters, Karen Nicholas; grandchildren: Jennifer Fuller (Joseph), Roni Marie McPhearson (Jeremy), Bryan Nichols (April), Leah Fabiano (David), Andrew Nichols and Bo Land; great grandchildren: Jake, Sophie, Mitch, Jack Katie, Claire and Mason; sisters, Mary Ellen Hardin (Bud), Patricia Brooks (Frank), Gail Boshell (Gene); brother, Jerry Donnie McCollough (Cecilia); she also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; last but not least, her cat, Isabell. Nana was the most "wonderful wife in the world", according to her husband, Ray. Her younger sisters describe her as "Strong willed" and the grandchildren, Jennifer and Roni, that she raised, will always remember her as "the best Nana ever!" Nana helped raise several nieces and great grandchildren. Nana met her husband working at Todd's Restaurant in Birmingham and they have been inseparable for the past 59 years. Nana and Ray loved meeting the sisters and their spouses at the beach or casinos. "Nana you have touched so many hearts and lives. You will be forever in our hearts." Family meant so much to Nana and family get-togethers were filled with laughter and great food. The family will receive friends at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on May 16th. The funeral will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Chapel. The burial will follow the chapel service at Forrest Crest Cemetery in Irondale.
