Sara Alyce Marlow Gillilan, age 78, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She passed away on March 6, 2014. She enjoyed her younger years with the Marlow Family, who she was very close to. She attended St. John's United Methodist Church. She graduated from Ensley High School, where she played the violin in the orchestra. She married her loving husband of 57 years, Bill J. Gillilan who preceded her in death. She was an active Girl Scout Leader for her daughters. She retired from Jefferson State College where she was an administrative secretary for 20 years of service. She and her husband loved to travel with the Fancy Free's Church group. She enjoyed activities such as sewing, knitting, embroidery, painting, her collection of porcelain dolls, and playing her violin with the Magic City Orchestra. She was very charitable to several worthy organizations. She lived at Mount Royal Towers, where she was beloved by the staff and many friends there. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Decker (Jeff) and Debra Gillilan; grandsons, Joshua Decker and Aaron Decker; great grandson, Jayden Decker. Visitation will be on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 5 to 7PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial . Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
