Ruth White

Ruth Inez White, age 84, of Birmingham, died at her home on Thursday, October 15, 2009. She was born in Albertville, AL, and lived most of her adult life in the Birmingham area. Ruth was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. She worked at Pizitz, later McRae's, in the children's department for many years. She will be remembered for her love of her Heavenly Father, her family and her concern for others. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Willard White who died in 2004. Graveside services will be Sunday Oct. 18, at 2pm with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Rev. Emory Brackman will officiate. The family will receive friends at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville on Sunday, from 1:30pm until 2pm. She is survived by her children Joel (Gail) White of Birmingham, and Gerald (Janice) White of Donaldsonville, LA, and her sister Louise Hunter of Mountain Brook, and nephew Barry Hunter of Atlanta. She leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, Jarrod White of Mobile, AL, Whitney White Dittmar (Jon) of Littleton CO, Kellie White Gilham (Brian) of Clay-Chalkville, Kristie White Harrell of Grove Hill, AL, and Mary Elizabeth White of Donaldsonville, LA, and six great grandchildren Kameron and Trenton Gilham of Clay-Chalkville, Jakob and Kristopher Harrell of Grove Hill, AL and Ava and Mills Dittmar of Littleton CO.
