Ruby S. Ragland of Pell City, Al. went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 14, 2017. She is survived by her husband of almost 67 years, Lawrence B. Ragland, Jr., son Richard L. Ragland(Brenda) of Theodore, Al, daughter, Kathryn R. Boone, (Fred), of Ocoee, Fl. Two grandsons, Justin Ragland (Rebecca) of Helena, Al., Jared Ragland, of Birmingham, Al., one great grandson, Bentley Ragland, of Helena, Al. and one great granddaughter Parker Ragland, of Helena, Al. She was preceded in death by a son, William Barry Ragland and her parents, William Virgil Selby and Pruda B. Selby. Accepting Jesus Christ at an early age, she served her Savior in many different ways, as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and church organist. Her love for Christian music and the old hymns was surpassed only by her love for God and her family. She was currently a member of Cropwell Baptist Church in Pell City and a member of the Boomers and Beyond Sunday School class. She had been employed over the years by Hill Grocery, Dolly Madison Bakery, Lamson Sessions Co., and Pinson Animal Hospital. After her retirement, she and her husband were long time members of the Alabama Campers on Mission, traveling throughout the U.S. in their RV helping to build and renovate Baptist churches, schools, and working in Baptist summer camps and many other projects. She was also a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Vincent East. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Village at Cook Springs and to the Oasis Hospice for the excellent attention they gave to Ruby during this most difficult time. Our sincere gratitude goes to the nurses on Sunset Trace, especially, Barbara, Tanya, Teresa, Kim, Shacoby, Jackie, Vickie, Chasity, and April, and all the CNAs Tina R., Tina J., Sara W., Sara M., James, Brenda, Jill, Faith Ann, Cassandra and to the Oasis staff of Kim, Ashley, Eva, Regina, and Cindy. A heartfelt GOD BLESS YOU to all that helped in any way. Services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Al on Friday March 17. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM and the service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bill Daniel and Rev. Fred Boone conducting. As an alternative to flowers, memorials can be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Gideon's International, or the Alabama Campers on a Mission. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
