Roy Eugene Smith, born on January 9, 1930 in Acmar, AL. Roy graduated from St. Clair County High School and served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean conflict. He retired from the U.S.P.O. after many years as a letter carrier and retired as supervisor over mail and letter delivery at the Birmingham Post Office. Roy was a humble man with integrity and a Christian. He married Barbara Franklin on September 27, 1952. They were looking forward to celebrating their 64th anniversary. He coached Pee Wee League Baseball at Wahouma Park, Birmingham during the 1960's and he was the past president of Hewitt Trussville High School Athletic Booster Club. Roy was a Mason and a member of East Lake Lodge #480. He was preceded in death by his father, William Lee Smith, mother, Doris Reeves Smith Fulmer, step-father, Joe H. Fulmer and brother, William Lee Smith, Jr. He is survived by his son, Robert "Bobby, Bob" Van Smith (wife, Renee), granddaughter, Anne Franklin Smith, grandsons, Parker Berte Smith and Chris Harper (Jennifer), great granddaughters, Kennedy Jayne Harper and Bryn Elizabeth Harper, niece, Cynthia Bradshaw (Elliott) of Houston, TX, nephews, Michael Smith (Cynthia) of Richmond, TX and Mark Smith (Trish) of Houston, TX. Services will be on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 12 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Father Ed Robinson will be officiating over the services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Anglican Church, 3710 Cavern Road, Trussville, AL 35173 or a charity of choice. Pallbearers will be Parker Smith, Mike Smith, Mark Smith, Elliott Bradshaw, Bubby Lewis and Tommy Saffles. Honorary pallbearers will be, Jody Franklin, Tony Isbell, Jack Pelfrey, Dick Reddick, Ricky Davis, Chris Kennedy and Ken Walker. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
