Roy Autry Hallmark was born on May 28, 1934 in Garden City, AL. On October 17, 2020 he reunited with his beloved Joyce. Roy was a 1952 graduate of Woodlawn High School. He served in the Alabama Air National Guard and completed a deployment to Paris, France in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis. Roy enjoyed a 30+ year career at Hayes International Corp. Since his vision prevented him from flying jets, he turned his love of airplanes into his career as a technical writer creating manuals on how to refurbish military airplanes. Upon his retirement from Hayes he started his own technical writing company. He loved to work in his yard, travel, fish, camp and anything in the great outdoors! Roy was an avid reader and loved genealogy. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Joyce Ann Hemphill Hallmark, parents Theodore R. and Zella E. Hallmark, and sister Diana H. Robbins. Mr. Hallmark is survived by his son Royce E. Hallmark (Tanya) of Springville, AL and daughter Julie H. Mezzell (Stephen) of Hoover, AL. 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Gardens of Pelham and Mary Neff, Shelby Baptist Medical Center 3rd floor nurses, especially Stephanie Nicole Cleckler, and Comfort Care Hospice for loving and caring for Roy during his final days. A visitation will be held on October 20 from 1:00 PM to 2:00PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville with a service at 2:00PM and interment following immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association in Roy’s memory. Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly body so that they will be like his glorious body. Roy is healed and whole again!
