Roy Wilson Brown age 97, passed away at his home in Birmingham, AL, on December 4, 2013. He was born in Brackettville, Texas to Ethel Gertrude Brown and Benjamin Franklin Brown, who was a muleskinner. While still a teenager Roy enlisted in the US Army and served in Troop F, 5th Cavalry, under the renowned George Patton, who was a Colonel at the time. Continuing his service to the military in civilian sector, Roy worked with the ROTC for many years and was retired from the Birmingham Board of Education. He was a long time member of Huffman Baptist Church. Roy was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and Albert; and by his sister, Martha. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Kimi, whom he met while serving with the US Army in Japan. He also survived by several nephews and nieces in Texas. Services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:00am at Jefferson Memorial Chapel, visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
