Ronnie Knight

Ronnie C. Knight of Birmingham, AL passed away in his home on December 24, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman D. Knight and Ethel C. Knight. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Ladie Purnell Knight of Birmingham; daughters Ladie L. Knight of Boca Raton, FL and Allison K. Ellis and son-in- law Stinson T. Ellis of Fort Deposit, AL; grandsons Rivers S. Ellis and Harrison K. Ellis of Fort Deposit, AL. Ronnie graduated from Banks High School in 1967. He attended Auburn University where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity until he left to serve in the US Army 20th Special Forces as a Green Beret. After Military Service, he graduated from the School of Engineering of the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Ronnie had a successful career in Engineering and Executive Management that spanned 45 years. His work, particularly in the pulp and paper industry, is well known in the United States and Internationally. He began his career at Rust International where he remained for 30 years, after which he joined AMEC Engineering in Atlanta, GA. Then he returned to Birmingham, AL for the remainder of his career at KBR and Yates Construction.
