Ronald Leslie Purser, 79, of Springville, AL passed away Wednesday March 19th, 2025. The family will receive friends and family at Jefferson Memorial funeral home in Trussville on Friday, March 28th from 11am to 11:45 am in the Chapel. We will have a celebration of life service from 11:45am-Noon. Burial will immediately follow in the Gardens to include the flag presentation and playing of Taps.
Ronnie is survived by his 3 children; Wendy Purser, Chris Purser (Lu) and Misty Latting (Jonathan). Plus 4 grandchildren: Gemma, Grey, Penelope & Adelyne. He is also survived by his niece Susan Gann.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sherry Purser. His brother William (Bill) Purser, sister Marilyn Gann Faucett as well as his parents Edward and Esther Purser.
Ronnie was born in Birmingham, AL in 1945 and grew up in East Lake. He attended schools including Avondale, Barrett and graduated from Woodlawn high school. He also attended Jefferson State and Jacksonville State University. He worked as a manager in the transportation industry for over 40-years, specializing in hazardous material transport. In 1967 he began his love for Square Dancing & became a caller. This is how he met his wife Sherry, they were married in 1971. Ronnie called for many clubs over his 50-years in square dancing and loved the fellowship and friendship it awarded he & his family over the years. In 2024 he was inducted into the Alabama Square Dance Callers Association Hall of Fame for "Unselfish dedication to the benefit, promotion of callers & dancers and enjoyment of Square Dancing throughout the state of Alabama".
