Ronnie was born on August 23, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillian Melton, and his brothers, Randy and Phillip. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Bookout Melton, daughter, Jennifer Barnett and his brother, Michael. Ronnie is remembered for his love of family, friends and animals, wild or tame and he is also remembered for his love of and talent for music. He began lessons on the piano at age five. At fifteen, he became the keyboardist for The Hard Times, a rock band from Birmingham. Before the draft he took the band members and opened for many major acts and had a recording contract with Camo-Parkway Record and appeared on the Dick Clark’s National Series, “Where the Action Is”. Ronnie then began his military career serving in the U.S. Air Force, The Marines and The U.S. Army. While in the Army he was stationed in Germany, where he became the pianist for The Armed Forces European Symphony Orchestra. Ronnie later served as the pianist for his church. There will be a memorial service for Ronnie when the world settles down.
