Ronald Cary Crutchfield, April 24, 1950 – July 15, 2020. Born in Sulligent, AL, Ronny Crutchfield lived most of his life in Birmingham, where he graduated from Woodlawn High School. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed in Germany, and achieved the rank of SP4. After completing his service, Ronny attended Jefferson State Junior College, and then the University of Montevallo, where he majored in accounting. He worked at O’Neal Steel Incorporated for 40 years as a senior financial analyst. Ronny was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Barbara Crutchfield, and his niece, Christy Crutchfield. He is survived by his wife, Riva Crutchfield, his daughter, Carrie Anne Crutchfield, and beloved Boston terrier, Axl Rose. He also leaves behind brothers Donny (Tracie) and Tim (Rachael), sister, Sandra Jacks (Terry), his nieces and nephews—Wendy Kirkland (Derrick), Terry David Jacks (Jennifer), Darryl Jacks (Katie), Chris Seagle (Lindley), Caitlin Hargett (Pat), Chloe Kirkland, and Eli and Joel Crutchfield—his brother-in-law, Peter Humphries (Jan), and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and blessed friends. Ronny was a devoted family man and animal lover. In lieu of flowers, the Crutchfield family asks that donations be made to the Birmingham Humane Society in his name (gbhs.org). The funeral will be held on Monday, July 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Birmingham. It will be a graveside service in the Garden of Love.
