McClendon, James Ronald, 75. After more than 20 years of battling progressive heart/vascular disease and recently vascular dementia, Ron left his earthly home for his Heavenly one on February 5, 2021. He passed peacefully at home with his wife by his side.
Ron loved his family & friends, telling stories, generating laughter, stimulating conversation, and Alabama football. He was a patriot, always a Marine, an artist, builder, writer, gardener, reader, learner and teacher. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he joined Vulcan Materials Company where he worked for 25 years before leaving to start his own

Ron loved his family & friends, telling stories, generating laughter, stimulating conversation, and Alabama football. He was a patriot, always a Marine, an artist, builder, writer, gardener, reader, learner and teacher. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he joined Vulcan Materials Company where he worked for 25 years before starting his structural design and CAD business. Ron closed his business in 2000 due to his failing health.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, June (Hulsey); children: Veronica Christopher, Rebecca Hamby (Rick), Ian McClendon and Carrie Coffman (Christopher); grandchildren: Ashley Christopher, James Hamby (Tori), Cheyenne Solomon, and Maddie, Ellie, Kaylie & Samuel Coffman; great grandchildren: Tristen & Tessa Christopher; friends: Pat & Jeanie McKay and Rich & Faith Nardecchia; nephews: Pastor Joey Elsky (Melanie); John Elsky, Mark Hulsey; niece, Michelle Hulsey.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Orland D. McClendon & Lois Jones McClendon Beck; sister, Doris Beck Elsky & brother-in-law, Johnny Elsky.
Thank you to our friends, family & Highlands Small Groups for the many ways you have supported us and for the caregivers: Jason, Sarah, Jo and Denicia (St Vincent Home Healthcare and Hospice) and Sharon who warmed ours hearts with her laughter and Godly wisdom.
