Roberta Chapman

Roberta Virginia Sides Chapman, age 90 of Pinson AL peacefully passed away to her heavenly home November 1, 2010 following a stroke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Robert W. and Minnie E. Sides; her sisters, Minnie C. Allen, Mary N. Bartee and Ola Belle Horne; and her brother John Sides. She leaves to honor her memory her devoted husband and best friend of 71 years Leon C. Chapman of Pinson Al; her sons, Robert C. (June) Chapman of Cropwell AL, T. Ronald (Andrea) Chapman of LaFayette LA, Frederick D (Patsey) Chapman of Pinson AL and William R. (Chris) Chapman of Paris, France; her brother Robert W. Sides of Houston TX; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Pinson United Methodist Church and a Life Member of the St. Vincent's East (Medical Center East) Hospital Auxiliary where she and her husband spent many volunteer hours. Her life was devoted to God and Family and her joy in life along with her husband was raising four successful sons. A special joy later in life was her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff and physicians at St. Vincent's East, East Glen Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation and Comfort Care Hospice who cared for her in her final days. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 4 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home beginning at 12:30 PM with Chapel services at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry R. Horne, a nephew, officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Vincent's East Foundation designated to Robert C. Chapman Endowment Fund or to St. Vincent's East Auxiliary Fund (50 Medical Park East Drive, Birmingham AL 35235) or to Pinson United Methodist Church (4507 Bud Holmes Road, Pinson, AL 35126).
