Robert Waldrip

Robert Edward Waldrip "Ed", age 90, of Trussville, AL., passed away on March 10, 2015. He attended First Baptist Church of Trussville. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy on the LSMR509. Ed started his career in the Propane Gas Business with Brett Gas in Birmingham, AL. in the 1940's and in the late 1950's he started Putman Gas in Irondale. In 1965 he started Wan-Bon Gas in Westover in Shelby County and continued until he retired in 1991 and his girls and son-in-law still continue with the family business. His favorite thing to do is to spend time with his family and friends. The trips to Gatlinburg and the beach were the high point of his years. His grandchildren always love to go to the store with their "Papa" because his wallet was always open and ready for his grandkids, because nothing was too good for the babies. Ed is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elva Waldrip; his daughters Wanda Campbell (Mike), and Bonnie Coker (Ken). He is also survived by his grandchildren Stacy Campbell; Josh Coker(Keri) and a great granddaughter Evie Grace Coker. A visitation will be held on Thursday March 12, 2015 from 5:00 -7:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday March 13, 2015 at 11:00AM.Reverend Bobby Erwin will be officiating. Jefferson Memorial Trussville will be directing the services.
