Robert F. Waites, Sr.

Robert F. Waites, Sr., age 85, of Moody, AL passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014. He was a native of Rockford, AL and former resident of Birmingham. Robert served in the U. S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1956 after three years of service. Robert was the proud business owner of Miller Wire Works and Miller Urethane Products since 1952. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Church and a charter member of Eastwood-Rotary club of Irondale and former Trustee of the Alabama Self-Insured Workers Compensation Fund. Robert enjoyed visiting Coosa County where he enjoyed fishing. Robert was an avid Auburn fan and also enjoyed gardening. He was such a gentle and loving man. His love for the Lord and his family was always so evident. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Janet M. Waites; children: Robin Battles Vickers (John), Robert F. "Bob" Waites, Jr. (Debbie), Layne Blackburn (Mike) and Lori W. Thompson; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, November 2nd from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville immediately following the visitation. Pastor Bob Waites, Jr. will be officiating.
