Robert "Bob" Short, age 77, of Odenville, AL passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2014. Bob was a member and deacon of Pioneer Baptist Church of Birmingham. He retired from Flowers Baking Company after 28 of service. Bob grew up in Ensley and was an exceptional pitcher in the BABF baseball league around the Birmingham area, and he enjoyed singing Southern Gospel solos in churches in the area. Bob was loved by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary E. Short; his three sons: Tommy Short (Kathy), Dwayne Short (Tina), and Ken Short (Melissa); daughter, Gina Vines (Chris); fourteen grandchildren: Chris, Kara, Ricky, Cameron, Dustin, Lacey, Tristan, Jordan, Melanie, and Logan Short, Wesley and Holly Whitfield, Aubrey and Nick Vines; one great grandchild, Caleb Short; one brother, Roy D. Short (Phyllis). His funeral service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 30th at 12pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Jefferson Memorial Garden East. Brother Ron Pascal and Darryl Castleberry are officiating. Jefferson Memorial in Trussville is directing.
