Robert E. Self, age 56, of Gardendale, Al passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Robert was born in Michigan and later moved to Alabama. He was a graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School of Warrior, AL in 1976. Robert was employed by Motion Industries where he served as a Strategic Accounts Engineer Specialist for over 30 years. Robert enjoyed traveling and did for a number of years; throughout the years he has visited all fifty states. He was good at wood work and was a big Alabama football fan. He is survived by his daughter, Emily Chandler (Alex); son, Benjamin Self; one granddaughter, Scarlett Chandler; three sisters, Carolyn Spencer (Speedy), Cathryn Conn (Bill), and Wanda Jordan (Ted). A visitation for Robert will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 1pm until 2pm. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2pm with burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville.
