Lee, Robert Wesley, Sr. (Bobby) Born September 15, 1928
Died March 7, 2015.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vincent and served on the Church Finance, Transportation, Insurance and Building Committees. Employed by Vulcan Materials Company for 42 years where he held a number of key corporate management positions. He retired from Vulcan in 1989 as Vice President, Compensation and Risk Management, a position he held for 10 years immediately prior to his retirement. He also served as Secretary of Vulcan's Pension Funds Committee and Chairman of Vulcan's Pension & Benefit Plans Administrative Committee. In 1987, He received The Silver Knight of Management Award from the National Management Association (NMA), the highest award NMA Chapters can bestow. In 1987 He served on The State of Alabama Management
Improvement Study Team whose recommendations resulted in
revenue enhancement and cost savings to the State of $88 Million
annually.
He was a charter member of the Alabama Society of Insurance Management, and served as President in 1966. He also served as a National Director of The American Society of Risk & Insurance Management. He was a Charter Member of The Southern Pension Conference and served on the Steering Committee during the formation and initial development of the Conference. In 1965 He received the designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) from the American Institute for Property & Liability Underwriter's. He served as the President of The North Alabama Chapter of The Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters in 1969. He was a Master Mason in the Masonic Lodge in Trussville and Vincent, and a former member of the Mountain Brook Exchange Club. He is survived by his Wife, Beverly Garrington Lee; Son, Robert Wesley Lee, Jr. (Shara) and his Daughter, Katherine Lee McLemore; Granddaughters, Angela Abbott (Tristan) Ryan Hendricks (John), and Melissa Cantalini (Chris); Grandson, Robert McLemore III (Wallis). Jean Lee Sister-in-law and seven Great Grandchildren, Reese Blanton, Elena Cantalini, Emry Hendricks, Gray Hendricks, Lake Hendricks, Xander Wolf Abbott
and Max William Cole Cantalini Brother, William O. Lee (Ann). He was predeceased by His Sister,
Dorothy L. Box, and Brother Drury C. Lee.
Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church, Vincent, AL at 12 noon on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. The Family will visit with friends at the Church for one hour preceding the service. Burial will follow at The Lee Family Private Mausoleum, Jefferson Memorial Gardens 1591 Gadsden Highway, Trussville, AL
