Robert Olen Lee was born August 7, 1928 to Virgil and Aurora Lee of Bradford, Alabama. He passed at the age of 88 on December 18, 2016 at home with his beloved wife of 62 A½ years at his side. Olen worked as a well driller with his father and later with Pierson Drilling. His years of employment included: well driller, roofing houses and as a 1st class diesel mechanic for Mack Trucks for 26 years. He loved his family, his church and most of all, his Lord Jesus. Olen drove the church bus on youth trips. He was active in many areas of the church. After retiring from Mack Trucks, Olen served as church custodian for First Baptist Church of Chalkville. He could be found even on off days making sure "all was well" in the house of the Lord. He was always involved in areas of helping others. At the age 76 he was cutting grass for 3 different widows, keeping their yards cut and trimmed. He was a living example of God's commandments. Olen received his 50 year pin from Masonic Lodge 872 April of 2016. Active in the Shriners, Olen was in the transportation unit called the Roadrunners. He would carry children to the Shriners hospitals and for treatments as needed. He served on the Park Committee of Shriners Zamora Park for many years. In later years, he made daily trips to Zamora Park to feed the wild birds, Canadian geese and fish. As he entered the park he would blow the horn of his truck and the ducks, geese, and crows would fly to his truck. Olen is survived by his wife, Jo Ellen Thompson Lee, a daughter Linda Loggins (Allan), an infant son David (preceded in death), three grandchildren, David Loggins (fiancAC.
