Robert C. Hall age 91 years old of Birmingham, AL went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November7, 2016. He is survived by his wife of over 73 years, Clara Dahlke Hall; his children, Michael (Kathleen) Hall, Larry (Cecilia) Hall and Cathy (Ronnie) Dickerson; his six grandchildren, Andrea (Yoga) Jones, Alicia (Jason) McKittrick, Christopher (Heather) Hall, April (Britt) Caple, Jimmy (Leigh Anne) Hall, and Ryan Dickerson. Twelve great-grandchildren, Evan, Christian and Adriana Jones, Tyler and Ashley McKittrick, Isaac, Willow and Solomon Hall, Conner and Carson Caple, Aiden and Carter Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Margaret Hall and his siblings Harold Hall, Shelton Hall, Louise Wade and Mary Billingsly. Robert was one of the greatest of The Greatest Generation - a true American Hero. Robert faithfully served his country for 2 1/2 years during World War II as a medic in the 325th medical detachment of the 399th Infantry Regiment in France and Germany reaching the rank of Corporal in the U.S. Army. He received the following commendations: The European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, The Purple Heart, The Good Conduct Medal and The Medical Badge. Prior to the military, Robert was selling newspapers on the corner in downtown Birmingham at age 12. He went on to become a very fine Optician, even having his own business during his long career. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville location. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Reverend Tom Lackey will officiate the service. Robert was a member of Solid Rock Lutheran Church in Argo, AL.
