Robert (Bob) Clay Flowers Sr. went to his Heavenly home after hard fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Bob was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Hunt Flowers, father, Robin Clay Flowers, and sister, Barbara Flowers Davis. He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Darlene Gowens Flowers, son, Robert Clay Flowers Jr., daughters, Deborah Flowers Wiggins (Ron), Jennifer Flowers Byrd (Michael) and Monica Maple Moody (Perry), grandchildren, Colby Sisson (Mandy), Cassy Flowers, Tori Chappell (Dan), Isabella Byrd, Jaxon Byrd, Sofia Byrd, Lauren Moody (Logan) and Lindsey Moody, great grandchildren, Chloe Sisson, Wyatt Chappell, Colt Sisson, Yates Chappell, Hayes Chappell, and Michael Clay Woods, a nephew, Ray Davis (Debbie), and a niece, Diann Hayes (Rick). Bob was born February 25, 1940 and spent most of his life living in the Birmingham, Alabama area. He grew up in Roebuck Springs and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1958. Bob attended college at Auburn University, where he graduated in 1962 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. After college, Bob joined the Navy and served 4 years as an officer. Bob spent his post Naval career providing electrical engineering, design and contracting services, including running his own business, and ultimately retiring from Trinity Contractors. Bob and Darlene are members of The Church at Brook Hills, where Bob served as a member of The Branches Sunday School Class. Bob enjoyed golf and spending time with family and friends. Those who knew Bob will always remember his gentle and easy-going mannerisms. He had a quick wit and mischievousness sense of humor, rarely missing the chance to enjoy a good prank. During his battle with cancer and right up until the end, Bob maintained his strong faith and positive outlook; showing kindness, empathy and a big smile to everyone around him. Visitation will be at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Friday August 30th, from 9am - 10am. The Service will follow at 10am in the Chapel.
