Robert Canup

CANUP, ROBERT LEE, 74, of Birmingham, AL passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Robert was the second son of Gladys and Roy L. Canup. He graduated Tarrant High School in 1953 and retired from Shook and Fletcher Heating and Cooling in 1996 with 30 years service. He was a member of Roebuck Park Baptist Church since 1965 and a member of Sheet Metal Local 48. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Roy L. Canup; and brothers, Charles, Kenneth, and Jerry Canup. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Jeanene Canup; daughters, Laura Canup of Birmingham, AL, Deborah Canup Gardner of Atlanta, GA; son, David Lee Canup of Memphis, TN; sister, Sharon Lance Pocus of Trussville, AL; and grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Gardner (15) and David Grant Canup (7). Chapel services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Brant Bice officiating. Burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
