Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 15^th, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Jared Cook will officiate. Interment will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega, AL. Arrangements under the direction of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.

Rita was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. She completed her education studies at UAB and went on to be a professor at Jefferson State Community College. She loved to teach and did everything she could to help her students, even tutoring a good many of them.

Survivors include her stepdaughter, Karen (Dale) Williams; stepson, Alan Lord; step grandchildren, Brandon Williams (Katie), Dustin (Brittany) Williams; step great grandchildren, Reece Williams, Mallory Williams, and Eleanor Williams.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lord; son, Clint Brakefield; and parents, Claude and Ruby Opal Booker.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the time of service.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made to Clearview Baptist Church.
