Richard Washington, Jr.

Richard Milo Washington age 81 of Remlap passed away on January 21, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Milo and Dorothy Grider Washington. He is survived by his wife,Joan Washington; three sons, Ricky (Julie) of Pinson, David of Fort Morgan, Danny (Tina) of Remlap and one daughter Leigh Karagas ( John) of Birmingham; one brother Gary (Betty) of Birmingham; one sister Linda Redd of Birmingham. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; Alexandria, Mac,Stephanie,Gary,Victoria,Toby,Olivia,

John, Hannah,Laura,Danielle, Cody,Rebecca,Haley; five great grandchildren Carly,Becca,Makenzy, Sam and Ben.

Richard was a lifelong lover of nature and the outdoors. He was a member of the National Speleological Society and the Alabama Paleontological Society. Many of his fossils finds are on display at the McWane Science Center and at the University of Alabama.Richard was also a super fan of Alabama football and an occasional golfer.

A family graveside service will be held on Wednesday,January 26th,2022.

Donations can be made in his memory to Alabama’s Natural History Museum.
