Richard Schmidt

Richard "Dick" Schmidt, age 83 of Trussville, AL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 26, 2012. He was a member First Presbyterian Church in Trussville, AL. Dick had a lot of love for motorcycles. He and Jeannette toured on his motorcycle all over the forty eight states except Hawaii and Alaska. He was a member of Southern Eagle Motorcycle Club and also a member of the Hogg Motorcycle Club. For many years he was involved with volunteer work with NAMI. He served his country well for five years with the U.S. Navy. He was a proud loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was shown much love and compassion from Mount Royal Towers in Vestavia, AL. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeannette Schmidt; sons, James Schmidt and Robert Schmidt (Leslie); daughter, Carol Schmidt; grandchildren, Paul Schmidt (Sarah), David Schmidt (Shannon), Kevin Schmidt (Natalie) and Abbey Schmidt; great granddaughter, Harper Schmidt and one great grandson to join the family in January, Neyland Schmidt. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 1 to 3PM at First Presbyterian Church in Trussville, AL. Services to follow at 3PM at the church. Burial will be in Fort Walton Beach, FL on Sunday. Rev. Peggy McClure will be officiating over the services. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
