Reta Shank

Reta J. Shank of Miramar, Florida passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the age of 82. Reta was born in Birmingham, Alabama. In the 1950s, she moved with her parents, Elmer and Georgia Brakefield, to sunny south Florida. Reta is survived by her children, Jay Thornton (Ann) and Susan Russo (Frank) and her three grandchildren Marina, Matthew and Joseph and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Shank. Reta was a long time member of the Nazarene Church of Hollywood. She loved the outdoors and gardening. Doting on her grandchildren and listening to music at the firehouse were among her favorite pastimes. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched. Services will be on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
