Realious "R. H." Hoyt Blackwell

May 10, 1925-Sept. 4, 2014

age, 89, of Birmingham, AL passed away on Thursday, September, 4, 2014. Realious was a long-time member of Lake Highland Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 50 years. He was a graduate of Minor High School in Minor, AL. In 1943 Realious enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII; he was honorably discharged charged in 1949. He served at Hayes/Pemco as a supervisor before retiring after 38 years of service. He enjoyed being a part of a bowling league for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Saderia and Poley Blackwell; his two brothers, Ray Blackwell and Gerald Blackwell. Realious is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rose Day Blackwell; daughter, Belinda Blackwell Sanders (Jimmy); son, Kevin Hoyt Blackwell (Marsha); grandchildren: Brody and Macey Sanders and Josh and Rachel Blackwell; numerous nieces nephews, family and friends. The funeral will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 6th at Jefferson Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the chapel service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. The family requests in lieu of flowers please give donations to Lake Highland Baptist Church in memory of Realious Hoyt Blackwell. Jefferson Memorial in Trussville is directing.
