Phyllis Anita Burbage Blake, 64, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, at Civic Center Rehab and Nursing after a brave struggle with illness. Phyllis was born in Birmingham, January 30, 1948, the daughter of Phillip and Juanita (Landreth) Burbage. She attended Eagan Grammer School, Phillips High School and Jacksonville State University. She married Edward Blake on July 10, 1970. Phyllis enjoyed needlepoint, embroidery and smocking. She created many beautiful pictures and clothes which she generously gave to her family. She had an exceptional eye for color and detail; her needlework resembled fine painting. She & Ed enjoyed having pet-friends for many years. Phyllis will be deeply missed by two sisters, Janice Burbage Lawless of Birmingham and Cynthia (Burbage)Smith (Ric) of Muscatine, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Ann Blake and Tammy (Keith) McCullar; aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by seventeen days by her husband, Ed. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Friday at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
