Phillip Wayne Whitt, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 66 on May 8, 2009. Phillip retired from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in 2004. He served in the US Army during Vietnam receiving two purple hearts. He was a member of American Legions Riders and American Legion Post 171. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Peggy Whitt; their children, Dennis Whitt (Lauren) of Stockbridge MI, Phillip C. Whitt (Blythe) of Hayden AL, Rodney Whitt (Karen) of Orlando FL, Tracey Rucks (Harry) of Locust Fork AL, Vicki Minck (Rodney) of Locust Fork and Lori Edwards (Dwayne) of Pinson AL; three sisters, Theresa Holmes (Earl) of Mt. Olive AL, Elfreida Marshall of Haines City FL and Letha Covalt (David) of Lessburg FL; twenty one grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11 from 5:00 i�½" 7:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Chapel services will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Silver Star Families of America, 525 Cave Hollow Road, Clever MO 65631, an organization which supports wounded soldiers in Mr. Whitts memory.
