Phella Sorrels

Phella Bennett Sorrels born on March 20, 1931- Heavens gates on December 25, 2012. How fitting for the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend to enter heavens gates on the day that Jesus was born. There were so many lives that she touched, it is too many to even count. In our eyes God has received the most amazing angel on this day. Our lives have been forever changed on this earth, but will continue to be touched by her presence every day. The joy in their hearts is the reunion of their precious mother Phella with not only her heavenly father but with their dad, Ed. We know that he has been waiting for her all these years and it was her wish to be with him now. She will now be in heaven with our father, Robert Edwin, Sorrels. She leaves behind a family that loved her deeply; son, Robert Scott Sorrels and wife Kathy, daughter, Jody Sorrels Puryear and husband Randy. Also, the ones she loved the most, grandchildren, Hunter Puryear, Grant Puryear, Bobby Sorrels, Amelia Sorrels and Bethany Sorrels. Her unwavering faith in God is show through all of us. She has been committed to St. John's United Methodist Church the whole time that we have lived in Birmingham. In lieu of flowers she wanted a donation made to her church to continue their mission; 356 Killoughs Springs Road, Birmingham, AL 35215. Arrangements are at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235. Viewing is at 1:00 pm, and the Chapel service is at 2pm, on Friday, December 28, 2012.
