Peggy Ann Proctor, age 78 of Birmingham, AL passed away on November 29, 2009. She was a member of New Temple Baptist Church in Dora, AL. She was employed with Jefferson County for 44 years, where she retired as the Chief Clerk of Probate Court. If you ever filed a will, applied for a marriage license, adopted a child, recorded a deed or any other legal property matter from 1971-2001 she touched your life. For it was probably her signature on the document that granted your request. She was associated with Jefferson County Employees Credit Union since its inception. She served on its Board of Directors and other capacities for many years. For many years she was an active volunteer for Crisis Center in Jefferson County. She invested her life in ministry to single adults on the local church level as well as the Birmingham Baptist Single Adult Ministry. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy G. Lantrip and Pearl Evelyn Lantrip and her brother, Robert Charles Lantrip. She is survived by her husband, Harold Proctor; children, Douglas Ray "Peanut" Gober, Jr. (Victoria) of Kenner, LA, Brian Keith Gober (Traci) of Fort Worth, TX, Ty Dewayne Gober of Birmingham, AL, Lyndyl Proctor Williams of Kennesaw, GA, Hal Proctor (Karen) of Alpharetta, GA, Tracye Proctor Craven of Marietta, GA, and Jon Proctor (Jo) of Woodstock, GA; sisters, Mary Rose Dorough (John) and Betty Sue Smith (Joe); brothers, R. G. Lantrip, Jr. and Billy Ray Lantrip; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 2:00PM at Huffman Baptist Church, with Harold Proctor the officiating minister. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 8PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
