BAKER, PEGGY PAYNE 89, of Pinson, Al passed away Thurs., February 2, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Born in Montevallo, Mrs. Baker was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She retired as a teacher from the Birmingham Board of Education, was a volunteer for St. Vincent's East Hospital, former member of Roebuck Drive United Methodist Church and a present member of Pinson United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by James E. Baker, her husband of 59 years. Surviving are her son John P Baker, Sr. (Deborah), Birmingham, Al, Daughter, Anita Baker Gough (Emmett), Pinson, Al; 5 grandchildren, Gail Gough Hodge (Scott) Pinson, Al, James E Gough (Linda) Marietta, Ga, Bethany Gough Valdez (Bruce) Trussville, Al, John Payne Baker, JR (Rae) Birmingham, Al, Mason Fambrough Salt Lake City, Utah, 6 great grandchildren, Jordan Hodge (Kayla), Dylan Hodge, Baker Hodge, Gavin Hodge, Blakely Valdez and Braden Valdez. A Graveside Service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Al. Visitation will be 12pm-1pm prior to the graveside service. The Reverend Bob Murray will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Pinson United Methodist, general budget.
