Paula Grace Tapscott Rogers, age 59, passed away on June 27, 2015 in Birmingham, AL, due to complications following a brain tumor. Paula was born on October 11, 1955 in Cullman, AL, to mother Gracie Tapscott, and father Robert Tapscott. She grew up in a large, loving family with two sisters and two brothers. Paula graduated from Huffman High School in 1974, was married a few years later, and concentrated on being a full-time mom to four children for many years. As her children got older, Paula pursued her love of children further by vocation. Officially employed by the Birmingham Board of Education, Paula worked with special needs children at T.R. Wright Elementary, and helped lead before and after school programs and summer camps at various schools in the Huffman area. She retired in 2010 after suffering a stroke. Paula will be remembered for her big smile and caring heart, always placing the needs of others above her own. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Tapscott. Paula is survived by her children, Stephanie Rogers Davis, Matthew Rogers, Ashley Rogers, and Sara Tucker; her granddaughter, Rileigh Calloway; her mother, Gracie Lynn Tapscott; her siblings, Peggy Dye Dempsey (Jim), Gary Tapscott (Renee), Beth Romano (Claude), and Greg Tapscott (Sharon); as well as her special friend, Sheldon Fleischer and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville from 5pm to 7pm Tuesday, with Chapel services at Noon on Wednesday. Reverend Martin Ray will officiate the ceremony.
