Surrounded by his loving family, this Legend transitioned peacefully at home on Thursday, August 15, 2024 while an instrumental Amazing Grace played softly close to his ear. He was 89 years young.
He was an exceptional and dedicated Father, Husband, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He was a great man whose life exemplified integrity, honor, respect for all, patient, loving, caring, faithful, compassionate, thoughtful, selfless, giving, honest, considerate, fun, hilarious, responsible, diligent, creative, inventor, smart, entrepreneurial, the best story teller in the world, fighter (he won them all), card shark and life of every party. He was so much fun and lit up every room just by his awesome presence.
Those that knew him, absolutely loved him. We will miss him terribly along with his contagious laugh, strong grip and hugs, elaborate stories and jokes, phone calls, his sugo and meatballs and card games to name a few. We know with absolute certainty we will see him again one day and for eternity.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ann Stephenson DeFranco; his son, Lon DeFranco; his daughter, Carla DeFranco Rouss (Keith); his sister, Pearl DeFranco Bailey (Stanley) and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carmelo and Maria DeFranco; his Sisters: Mary Amari (John), Virginia Morris (Cecil), Angelina Renda (Jasper Joseph), Brothers: Joseph DeFranco (Doris), Peter DeFranco (Corrine).
The family extends sincere deep gratitude to all the family members who were with us daily during the end of his journey. We could not have made it without you.
The family also would like to extend their appreciation to Thomas Duke, Sarah Bibb, Nitissia Burgess, Mylesa Weatherford, Ganeana Gean, Cathy Crocker, Clay Wilder, Leighann Davis… and the entire care team at AGAPE Hospice along with Sally Mollel with Merida Care.
