Paul Earl Bradford, born September 22, 1932 passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday May 14, 2013 at his home. A 1953 graduate of Alabama School for the Deaf, Paul was a football player for the ASD "Silent Warriors". He was recognized as an All American football player in 1952 and became Alabama's first Deaf Eagle Scout the same year. Paul also attended Gallaudet University the nation's first and only all deaf college. He served as secretary for many years to the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf. Paul worked for the Birmingham News for 35 years and served the Deaf community as a deacon for more than 25 years. Anyone who met or knew Paul saw that he was a humble and devoted Christian. Paul is preceded in death by his parents Paul Earl Bradford Sr. and Lisala Todd Bradford. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Anita Carol Hooper Bradford, four children: Paul Earl Bradford III (Linda), Beth B Payne (Doyle), Charles Hooper Bradford (LeAnn), and Lisala Ann Bradford (Mario Espinal); four grandchildren, sister Gloria Forehand (Sherman), brother Gerald Bradford, and numerous nieces and nephews. His gentle smile and humble spirit will be sorely missed. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon till time of service. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial in Trussville directing.
