Patricia Garrett

Patricia Wood Bivens Garrett passed away on 2/17/2022 at the age of 82 at Grandview Medical Center. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 24, at 10:00 AM at Forest Hills Cemetery in Birmingham with David Seibert officiating the service. She was born on Christmas Eve 1939 in Selma to Houston and Ruth Wood. She was a long time member of Center Point Baptist Church. She retired from Jefferson County Family Court where she was known for her sense of humor and, at one time, baking birthday cakes for her co-workers. She was an avid animal lover caring for her own pets, taking in feral cats in her neighborhood and pet sitting for others. She loved having friends and family over to swim and having cookouts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Bivens; her daughter, Cindy Bivens; her husband, Ronald Garrett; step daughter, Pattie Garrett Seibert; sister, Margaret Self; and niece, Sue Self. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Glenda Duncan (Ronnie), John Self (Leslie), Steve Self (Joan), Jean Robertson and grandchildren, Monica Seibert Hobson and Chris Seibert; son-in-law, David (Riley) Seibert; and last but not least, her Best Friend, Janis Sorrell. Our deep gratitude goes to the staff at Grandview SICU for the compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable memorial donations be made to an animal rescue or support organization of your choice.
