Olson Scroggins

Olson F Scroggins was born July 13, 1922, near Adams Chapel, Barbour County, Alabama, to Charlie F and Nina Adams Scroggins.  He died July 27, 2021.  He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  At age 18, he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps.  In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served in the Pacific theater until the end of World War II in 1945.  In 1948, he came to Birmingham to attend Birmingham Business College, where he met and married his wife, Novline Fowler.  He was employed by Jefferson County as an accountant.  While working for the county, he was active in the Jefferson County Employees Credit Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 71 years, Novline Fowler Scroggins, four sisters, a granddaughter, and three great-grandchildren.  He is survived by a sister, Joyce Meservey (Harold), a brother, Arthur Scroggins, his children, Linda Vincent (Raymond), Michael Scroggins (Nancy), Donna Abrams, Cathy Gronquist (Mikel), and Brian Scroggins (Barbara), 20 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers are Chad Olson Abrams, Jason Dean Abrams, Devin Krisle, James Brian Scroggins, Jr, Jonathan Olson Scroggins, and Raymond Andrew Vincent, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
