Oliver Bowen

Oliver Glenn Bowen, born March 13, 1925 was a member of the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in June, 1946 and returned home to Beaverton, Al, to help raise his family of five siblings following the untimely death of his father in that year. Mr. Bowen married Avis Blanche Harris in 1948 and raised two sons, Jerry Glenn Bowen, James Walter Bowen and daughter, Linda Joyce Bowen. He was a long time member of the East Thomas Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon of that congregation. He is preceded in death by his son, James Bowen in 1981 and wife, Blanche Bowen in 2003. He later married Lillian Furner in 2005. He is survived by his wife Lillian Furner Bowen; sister, Lila B. Carlson of Acworth, GA; children, Jerry G. Bowen and Linda Bowen Tucker: three grandchildren, Joshua Bowen, Matthew Tucker and Meredith Tucker Linville; two great-grandchildren, Avilynn Linville and McKinlee Linville; seven step-children, Danny Glover, Vickey Bailey, Pattie Epperson, Wendi Hopper, Gay Vanderburg, Jennifer Glover, and David Glover and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, Al. with Rev. Charles Nicholson and Rev. Danny Glover officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm.
