Ocie Martin

Ocie Charles Martin, age 88, of Trussville, passed away on Dec. 10, 2023. Mr. Martin was a very proud Air Force veteran. He was also a member of First Baptist of Chalkville for over 60 years where he was an ordained Deacon and the Brotherhood Director. He also loved going to the Brotherhood Breakfast Group. He loved to repair lawnmowers and bicycles to give to families in need. One of the biggest things near his heart was going to events for his grandchildren whether sport or school related where it seemed like he was everyone's grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Gala Delane Martin. His parents also preceded in death by his parents Ocie Paul and Daisy Martin.

He is survived by his son Charlie (Sondra) Martin; two grandchildren, Will (Julia) Martin of San Francisco, CA and Lydia Martin (Kolton Nichols) of Cullman. The family would like to thank the special friends of the Breakfast Group Buddy Allen, John Arnold and Harold Putman.

The visitation will be on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to First Baptist Church of Chalkville.
