On September 14th, 2018, Norma Jean Jones of Birmingham, Alabama passed with peace and grace at home with her loved ones by her side. She will always be remembered as a tireless and selfless nurturer. The beautiful Norma Jones was born on August 20th, 1936 to Ruthie Bell (Prince) and James Abner Gray. She was one of six children: Kathryn (Williams), Margaret (Sweatt) and James, Wilmer, and Curtis Gray, all of whom have preceded her in death. Norma was united in marriage to Bobby Ray Jones. Their union was blessed with three children, who were the joy of her life. Norma is survived by her daughters Kathy Burge and Rhonda Keith Fant and was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Jones, and only son, Bobby Ray Jones, Jr. Some knew her as Norma Jean, the owner of a well-known floral business. Others knew her as Mother, Nanny, or Gigi. Her spirit encouraged her family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. Her life will forever be cherished by her children, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. As a result of her generous and gentle spirit, she was loved and respected by all who knew her. Norma was strong in her faith and lived a life serving others. She leaves us rich in memories. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, at 2pm at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
