Niles Swader

Niles L. Swader, 66, passed away on December 30, 2010. Mr. Swader worked at St. Vincent's East hospital for 25 years. He was a talented craftsman. He was a Shamash at Beth El Shaddai Synagogue in Bessemer. Niles began his ministry for Christ in 1974. He served as an interim and associate pastor for several congregations throughout the years and conducted a prison ministry for over 20 years. He was loved and will be missed by all. Survivors include his high school sweetheart, best friend and loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Elliott Swader; their children, Michele Reavis (Daniel) and Holly Smith (Eric); four grandchildren, William, Sean, Madison and Landon; one sister, Linda Pierce and a niece, Carole Pierce. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 3, at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Chapel services at 12:00 PM with Cantor Glenn Wilson officiating and burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
