Naomi Houston

Edith Naomi Harper Houston passed away on Saturday night, June 26, 2010. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Martin and Liller Shelnutt Harper; her son, Mickey Houston; her brothers Drennen and Don Harper. A devoted wife and mother, Naomi is survived by her husband of 55 years, Glynn Houston; children, Jeff Houston (Donna) and Linda Houston Cooper (Erick); grandchildren Amy and Emily Houston, Erick and Cara Cooper; sisters, Betty Mitchell (Ed) and Wilma Harper; brother, Belvin Harper (Virginia); sisters-in-law, Clarice Harper and Katie Harper. The celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 with a visitation/reception (10:00 to 12:00) and funeral service (12:00) at McElwain Baptist, her home church for 53 years, 4445 Montevallo Road, Birmingham AL 35213. The graveside service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to McElwain Baptist Church children's program or The American Diabetes Association.
