Nancy Russell

Nancy Clark Russell, age 81, of Trussville, passed away at home on Thursday, January 23, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Donald "Don" Russell and her son, Donald Jr. "Donnie". 

 Nancy was born and grew up in Birmingham, where she graduated from West End High School. She married Don Russell on June 18, 1965 and they lived together in West End until 1971 when they moved to Trussville. Nancy worked as a secretary for Vocational Rehab before choosing to go to nursing school. She graduated from Jefferson State in 1983 and began working at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in labor and delivery and later the NICU. She retired from Medical Center East in 1999. She was an avid cross stitcher and made many beautiful pieces for friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling. Her favorite places to visit was Orange Beach with her daughter and grandsons, Seattle and New Mexico with Don and to Biloxi and Tunica Mississippi with friends. As a member of First Methodist Church Trussville, Nancy spent many years in the Jubilant Ringers handbell choir and worked as an office volunteer. 

 She is survived by her daughter, Melissa, son-in-law, Dave and grandsons, Matthew, Alex and Adam Smith. She will be missed by her many family, friends and former co-workers.

The family would like to thank Meggan, Heather, Connie, William, and the aides at Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for their loving care and support. 

 Visitation with the family will be on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 11 am to 12:30 pm at First Methodist Church Trussville.

A private burial service will be held with family at Jefferson Memorial.
