Nancy Reese

Nancy Lenora Hasty Smothers Reese, of Trussville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday February 27, 2009, at the age of 73. The youngest daughter of Mary Lee Cates Hasty and Hugh D. Hasty of Waverly Tennessee. She was preceded in death by grandparents who raised her Ethel Gertrude Hasty Cates and John Sanford Cates; father Hugh D. Hasty, mother Mary Lee Cates Hasty Roberts, and brother Hugh Donald Hasty of Franklin TN. She is survived by her husband John C. Reese, sisters Bernice Hasty Stults of Orlando, FL, Doris Pool and Olaine Tanner of Portland TN; four children, Major, USAF (Retired) Robert G. Smothers of Deatsville, AL, Dr. Phyllis Ingham of Jacksonville, AL, David Smothers and Donna Walker both of Trussville AL; eight grandchildren, Brian Smothers, Staci Smothers Myrick, Melissa McGill Gay, Andrew McGill, Matthew McGill, Stephen Walker, Amy Walker, and Shelby Smothers; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan Smothers and Kaleb McGill. The family will receive friends on Monday March 2, 2009 from 9-10AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with chapel services to begin at 10AM with Dr. Roger Willmore from Deerfoot Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Holistic Healthcare.
