Myrtle Lawrence

Myrtle Catherine (Jones) Lawrence, 90, of Birmingham, AL left this life on September 8, 2009, and was instantly pronounced alive in glory. She was a long time member of West Woodlawn United Methodist Church. After working many years as a seamstress, she found her true calling working as a daycare provider at Roebuck Park Baptist Church. Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Harold Enoch Lawrence, her daughter, Mary Lawrence Sprayberry, and Thomas Van Thompson whom she loved like a son. She is survived by her children, Helen Faye Blackburn (Charles), Toney, AL, Richard Lawrence (Debbie), Germantown, TN, son-in-law, Jesse Sprayberry, Trussville, daughter-in-law, Ginger Thompson Vance, Birmingham, and grandchildren , Keith Edward Blackburn (Renee), Fayetteville, TN, Russ Alan Blackburn, Meridianville, AL, Cindy Blackburn Jordan (TJ), Loganville, GA, Harold Blake Spayberry (Sophia), Collegeville, PA, Kim Sprayberry Woody (Ron), Chelsea, Connie Sprayberry, Hoover, AL Jenny Lawrence DeAngelis (Michael), Lakeland, FL, James Matthew Lawrence, Germantown, TN, Wendy Thompson Byers (Stephen) , Birmingham, Brandon Scott Thompson, Birmingham, and 15 great grandchildren. Services will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Jefferson Memorial Chapel, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until noon. Rev. Jimmy Wayne Jones officiating.
