Myrtle "Myrt" Lou Austin, 93, of Irondale, Alabama, passed away on April 9, 2024. She was born on April 8, 1931, in Vincent, Alabama. Myrtle was known for her love of family, friends, and the Lord.
Myrtle worked at various places throughout her career. She started at Alabama Gas and later worked at Justice Printing, Commercial Printing, and Craftsman Printing. Additionally, she dedicated her time at Crestway Baptist Church, preparing Wednesday night suppers and assisting with other church groups and events.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Austin, her sister, Lois Jones, and numerous nieces, nephews and family friends. Myrtle was preceded in death by her father, Robert (Bob) Davis, mother Bessie Davis, brothers Barnet, Gordon, Frank, and Grady Davis, and sisters Roberta Ingram, Louise Alexander, Gertrude Spradley, Ruth Baker, and Wynell Turner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Austin.
Myrtle attended Vincent School and was a member of Crestway Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her flowers, working in the yard, and exploring thrift stores.
