Dr. Myra Gravlee Grady, age 82, of Trussville, formerly a native of Sumiton, AL passed away December 2, 2008. She received a bachelor's degree from Howard College (Samford University) and a master's degree and a doctorate of education degree from the University of Alabama. She taught at Dora High School and Hewitt-Trussville Elementary School. She served as curriculum specialist at the Sparks Center for Developmental and Learning Disorders at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and was a clinical professor in the First Year Teacher Pilot Program at UAB. She was a faculty member of the Department of Special Education, the University of Alabama where she taught courses and served as coordinator of Clinical Experiences. Later she joined the staff of federal programs at the Alabama Department of Education at Montgomery, Alabama where she was State Evaluator of Title I Programs. She joined the special education staff State of Alabama as an education specialist and served as consultant to a large number of school systems over the state until she retired. She was a long-time member of Ruhama Baptist Church in Birmingham where she taught Sunday School, was active in the music program and in mission study groups. She was currently a member or Deerfoot Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Samford University Auxiliary where she was a member of the Executive Committee. Services will be on Thursday Dec 4, at 2pm with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens Trussville. Dr. Wayne Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7pm Wednesday. She is survived by her husband Odell F. Grady, sisters Elizabeth Moss of Greenwood SC, Carie Tidwell of Fairmount GA, sisters in law Ann Gravlee of Huntsville AL, Rose T. Grady and Lavenia Scurlock, brother in law Edwin L. Grady of Lacey's Spring AL, several nieces and nephews. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
