Morris Wilkinson, age 94 of Birmingham died peacefully in his sleep in early morning hours of August 21, 2013. He was born to Morris R. and Lena Daniels Wilkinson and was a faithful, devoted husband to Nora Richards Wilkinson, his wife of 63 years. He was a "Patriot and a Postman" serving his country for 6 years as a corporal in the Marine Corp. and participated in action against the enemy in WWII at Bougainville, B. S. I. and served as a postman for 71 years for which he won many awards, retired in November 2012. He had a real love for his Lord Jesus, his family, his country and for his job with the U.S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lottie Lowery (James), Lyda Mae Jordan (George), Imogene Wilson (L.H.); Colleen Lowery; and nephew, Dennis Lowery; In-laws; Ralph and Florence Richards , Louise Swindall, Martha Stradley, Ralph Richards Jr, Harold Swindall, Jimmy Richards and Ralph Richards, Jr. . Survivors include his wife, Nora Richards Wilkinson; nephews, Morris Lee Jordan, John Jordan, Steve Wilson, Hal Swindal, Jeff Daniels, Randy, David and Mark Stradley; nieces, Mary Jo West, Kathy Wilson, Nancy Gray and Janelle Stradley; brothers-in-law, Don Stradley and Charles Daniels; sister-in-law Juanita Daniels. A celebration of life will be at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 2:00pm, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Special thanks to premier Home Care, Care First Hospice, RN Sheila Odom and to the Special Sitters LaQuisha Smiley, Erica Johnson, Jasmine Taylor and in-laws, Juanita and Charles Daniels who cared for him with such love.
