Morris D. Freeman was born in DeKalb County, but lived most of his 90 years in Jefferson County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII. Mr. Freeman graduated from Howard College in Birmingham in 1949 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1953. He was a true man of Christ, serving as a pastor in churches in Talladega, Tarrant, Bessemer and Homewood. After he left the ministry Mr. Freeman worked at the Birmingham News and was an agent with Realty South when he retired. He is preceded in death by his mother, Cleo Simpson Freeman and brother, Randall Freeman. He is survived by his children, Carolyn F. Maddox (Richard) and Bill Freeman (Christy); sister, Jean White; grandchildren, Ashley M. Russell (Matt) and Sophie Haris Freeman; and, sister-in-law, Audrey Freeman, along with a host of other nieces and nephews. Mr. Freeman was a loving and caring person who dearly loved his family and he touched the lives of many. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 2:00pm at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 31st from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. As Mr. Freeman had a special place in his heart for children, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to The Children's Hospital.
